Supporting Suicide Prevention at MMD Construction
At MMD Construction Cork, we are committed to promoting awareness around mental health and suicide prevention, both on our sites and in our office. This year, our teams came together to take part in activities designed to highlight the importance of looking after our wellbeing and supporting one another.
On our sites, employees enjoyed “Tea and Talk” toolbox talks, an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, share a cup of tea and a scone, and connect with colleagues in an open and supportive environment. These talks gave everyone time to pause, reflect, and remind each other that it is okay to talk and to seek support.
In our head office, we created moments for connection and relaxation with a desk drop of tea and snacks, encouraging staff to take a break, head to the canteen, and spend time with colleagues. We also focused on the importance of caring for overall wellbeing, not just in the workplace but in everyday life, where some employees got to attend head massages.
We are proud of the positive engagement across the company and remain committed to doing more. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are open to training more Mental Health First Aiders so that our people know support is available whenever they need it. At MMD, we believe that breaking the stigma around mental health starts with small, meaningful actions, and together, those actions make a real difference.
