St. Joseph’s Community Hospital Millstreet

MMD Construction is delivering a major extension and refurbishment of Millstreet Community Hospital for the Health Service Executive. The project combines a new single-storey ward building of approximately 1,515m² with the renovation of the existing hospital, creating improved accommodation and facilities for residents and staff.

The new extension connects to the existing hospital at several points and includes single ensuite bedrooms, a dining room and a sitting room. Its completion allowed residents to move into the new accommodation while refurbishment of the older building progressed as the next phase of the project.

The wider works include partial demolition, the renovation of existing spaces and upgrades to site services to support both the new and refurbished buildings. Delivering these connected phases within a healthcare setting requires careful planning and coordination with the hospital team, with residents’ comfort and the continuity of care central to how the works are carried out.
