The Importance of Inclusion and Respect – A Talk by Donna Breen
At MMD Construction Cork, we continue to champion a work environment built on mutual respect, inclusion, and meaningful connection. In alignment with our ongoing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) journey, and to support the CIF National Diversity & Inclusion Day on 5th of July 2025, we were proud to host a special session on “Building Team Connections – The Importance of Inclusion and Respect” at our Head Office.
Held on Friday, 18th July 2025, the session featured guest speaker Donna Breen, a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and EMDR Psychotherapist with over ten years of experience supporting individuals through trauma and mental health challenges. Donna’s background includes an MA in CBT and advanced qualification in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
Donna delivered a warm and thought-provoking session that brought focus to the human side of workplace connections. Her message was clear: Inclusion begins with everyday actions, welcoming new team members, listening with intent, and looking beyond first impressions. Respect, include, connect.
As we move forward on our Lean journey, this message could not be more relevant. At the heart of Lean is Respect for People, valuing contribution, building trust, and creating space for continuous improvement. Respect is not just a core value; it is the foundation of strong teams, effective collaboration, and sustainable growth in construction. Inclusion and respect are not just cultural ideals, they are strategic essentials.
We thank Donna for her insight and authenticity, and all our colleagues who participated. This conversation forms part of our commitment to cultivating a workplace where every individual feels seen, respected, and valued.
