Health and safety is a fundamental part of the MMD philosophy, we have a policy of continual improvement and setting of safety objectives in line with the framework laid down within OHSAS 18001 and Safe- T Cert.

We welcome visits from the Health & Safety Authority and have formed a good working relationship with the authority over the past years. MMD is unique, in that our safety department is fully integrated into the management teams where safety is managed as part of the overall company.

The company safety performance is second to none and can hold its own on a statistical front with the best in the country. To consolidate the efforts being made the company we retain the services of an independent external auditing consultant to carry out regular on the spot audits, this allows for an unbiased snap shot of how each site is performing at a given time. The results of these audits are scored and the information is fed back to the company directors and management team.

The Management Team bears the responsibility for establishing, maintaining and implementing the safety system. MMD undertakes to ensure through instruction, practical experience and training that safety is the aim of all members of the organisation have a proper understanding of the importance of the safety system function and its direct relevance.

Encouragement by all involved with the Company to take part in eliminating accidents in the workplace is promoted vigorously.

It is the company policy to;

  • Provide through ongoing hazard identification, risk assessment, housekeeping audits and legal compliance checks, an adequate control of the Health, Safety risks from our work activities
  • Develop and maintain safety systems, techniques and teamwork to ensure we create a culture which is health and safety conscious adapting a “Right First Time, Every Time” quality and Safety Principle.
  • Maintain and review records on incidents ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented which ensure the continual improvement of processes.
  • Comply with all applicable health and safety regulatory requirements.
