MMD Construction Ltd. would like to pass on its condolences to David & Mairead (parents), Jacqui & Catriona (sisters) Hurley on the recent untimely death of their son & loving brother. Sean was a much admired member of the MMD workforce & brought laughter where ever he went. He was a very talented motor bike racer & had great prospects in this sport. MMD complete Clashduv House, Glasheen Road, Cork.

This project included the total refurbishment of an existing period house and the construction of an ultra modern extension.

MMD have commenced work at Maryborough Hill, Douglas, Cork project.

The Project consists of extending the existing dwelling house by an area of approx. 77 sq.m. and carrying out external works and site services.

This project includes the construction of a new centralised office building for TVM, the building is to comprise of offices, production rooms, editing suites, roof garden and a truck workshop.    Other works include the construction of Loading bays, new entrance & Driveway, 20 no. car spaces, new truck yard and all associated site Works.

MMD complete work at Broadstrand, Courtmacsherry, Co. Cork. 

This dwelling is constructed of traditional block cavity wall construction.  The roof is constructed in timber roof joists and includes exposed rafters.

MMD has commenced work at Bandon Co- op, Kinsale, Co. Cork.  This project includes the construction of a new detached store & yard, provision of new wall and roof sheeting to existing building; internal alterations to convert the existing store into a retail shop area and all associated site works.

Founded in 1903, Bandon Co- op is one of the most successful independently- owned Co operative organisations in the country, with a broadly diversified business involving milk processing, milling, feed production and retailing.

Phase 1 works have been completed at Scoil Naomh Fionan as of Tuesday the 05/05/11.

Phase 2 has now commenced and involves the demolition of parts of the existing school building & the construction of a new extension to same with works taking place in a live school environment.

Works have commenced on the Bonsai Project at Yves Rocher Manufacturing facility at Dublin Hill, Cork.  Phase 1 works commenced in April 2011.

The Scope of this project comprises of Civil Works within the existing manufacturing environment.  Yves Rocher Group is a major French multinational in the cosmetics & textiles industry.

The Scope of this project includes the preparation of the Site and the Construction of a two storey specialised house and all associated Site Works.

Works are ongoing at Collins Barracks Changing Rooms, Cork City.

The Scope of this project includes the preparation of the Site and the Construction of a single storey building to house changing rooms and toilet areas, plant room, referees room and cleaner Store with ancillary mechanical and electrical services. 

Works are ongoing at St Marys on the Hill National School.

This Project comprises of the Construction of a School Extension and all associated Site Works.

Works are ongoing at Mitchelstown Library, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.

The Scope of works involve the fitting out of the ground floor level of an existing three storey building for the use as a Public Library.  The Planned works also involve the demolition and removal of an internal block partition wall and the raising of a section of existing floor & alterations to the existing main glazed sections area.

Works have recently been completed at Fota House & Gardens.

 This Project comprises of the Construction of a new Surface car park with associated drainage, landscaping and ancillary works to accommodate 167 cars and 6 buses.  Also included is the construction of a new access road and upgrading an existing access Roadway.

Works have recently commenced at Knocknamanagh Old School Trust, Minane Bridge, Co. Cork. 

This Project comprises of the Construction of an extension to the old School House which contain an office, meeting rooms a kitchen and all associated site works.  The block is to be connected to the old school house building via a glazed link.  This project is to be completed in a live environment as the existing old school house will be in constant use throughout the construction phase.

Works have recently commenced at Glenville, Monkstown, Co. Cork. 

This Project comprises of Repair works to Chimney and Roofs.

MMD Construction have recently selected Mardak as the most suitable solution to streamline processes using an accounting and contract management system for the business. MMD are updating to this system as the company has recently won several new building contracts.  The implementation of this system shall ensure greater control and visibility over a large number of contracts.

Works have commenced at Emmet Place, Youghal, Co. Cork for Youghal Town Council.  

This Project comprises of the continuation of streetscape and includes the following-  Installation of ducting for telecommunications, esb and public lighting to facilitate the grounding of all existing Overhead Cables, New Road and footpath construction while maintaining access to all dwellings and businesses during the construction Programme, Installation of new watermains and storm drain, connecting to the existing systems, New car parking, public lighting and bollards, Coordinating Archaeological monitoring on Site.

Refurbishment works have recently been completed on the Naval Base Gymnasium at Harbouline, Co. Cork. 

These works included the installation of Solar Panels and upgrading of the existing Electrical and Mechanical Systems.

Works have recently been completed at Desmond College in Newcastlewest, Co. Limerick. These works were carried out in conjunction with Limerick VEC.

A Safety Talk has was carried out with Staff & Students on site. All parties were informed of the importance of Safety Awareness on a live site. This talk was carried out by Damian Harrington -MMD Safety & Environmental Manager.

The contract signing for the Extension to Cullen National School in North Cork took place recently between Mr. Cormac Smith(Director) & all relevant parties.  This project is ongoing & is due to be complete by July 2011.

Works have recently been completed at Colaiste an Chraoibhin,  Fermoy, Co. Cork. This project was completed on schedule as per original project target timeframe to be open for the forth coming school year.

Works have recently been completed at Bowens Menswear in Bandon Co. Cork. This shop is now fully operational & has undergone extensive refurbishment & upgrading works.  This shop is now fully operational & has undergone extensive refurbishment & upgrading works.

These refurbishment works include internal demolition, structural works & re-roofing of building. A pedestrian managment plan was put in place to ensure a safe passage of all civilians during the works.

Works are currently being carried out in Rowan Lane, Riverstick, Co. Cork. 

Works carried out include all Site Services & tying in same with Cork County Council services. Also, extensive landscaping is being completed on this site, to ensure this housing area is at the high specification as originally outlined.

MMD Construction Cork Ltd. has completed all works on the hand rails & barriers on Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) athletics track.  

Construction has been completed on the Killarney Town Council Depot at Woodlands in Killarney. Also the Link Road works also carried out by MMD Construction Cork Ltd.

Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland Ltd: Safety Milestone achieved on Site at 12,250 accident free hours.

MMD Construction Cork Ltd. has completed works on the LE Orla Naval Service Ship. Some minor works were also carried out on the LE Eithne. 

These contracts add to our current profile of works carried out on the Naval Services Fleet. Previous projects with the Naval Service include: LE Roisin, LE Niamh

Works have been completed at Strawberry Hill Boys National School, Cork City. All Contractor & PSCS duties were carried out successfully & according to legislation.

L.E Roisin, one of the Naval Service Fleet. The homeport for this ship is Haulbowline Island in Cork Harbour, where all works were carried out.

The works included re-fitting various elements of a P51 Naval Ship. All works were carried out to the deadline of a three week turn around.

Works have been completed in the North Monastery Secondary School, Cork. The project included Electrical & Building works in a live School Environment.

Works were completed on the renovation of the Old Fishmarket Wall surrounding the Blue Haven Hotel in Kinsale, Co. Cork.

This wall dates back to 1784 & is of considerable cultural heritage merit which bears testament to Kinsales past as an important fishing port. The Blue Haven Management have put three longs years of research into restoring this historical feature in Kinsale Town Centre back to its original glory by restoring the original openings, archways & wall finishes.

Works have been completed on the development of 3 Commercial Units with apartments overhead at Donnybrook Hill in Douglas, Cork.

MMD Construction was employed to carry out the role of fully completing these units & apartments. These works included Project Management of Mechanical & Electrical elements & the commissioning of same. Completion of external facade with regards to limestone cladding & lead work. The installation of windows & doors, provision of Site boundaries & other associated works.

Works have been completed on the Western Gatehouse, Royal Gunpowder Mills in Ballincollig. This work is in conjunction with Cork County Council.

The official opening of the New Extension of St. Multose National School, Kinsale, Co. Cork took place on the 6th November 2009. 

The opening was attended by Cormac Smith(MMD), Fiona Giles(Principal), Mark Salter(Engineer),Staff, Parents & local residents. This school extension has been gladly welcomed by parents & staff alike, & will hopefully provide a happy & learning environment for the children of the local area.

The New Extension of Ballinspittle National School was officially opened on Tuesday 20th October 2009. This event was attended by Mr. Tom O Sullivan-Architect; Mr. Cormac Smith -MMD Director & Fr.Canon Kelliher- Parish Priest. This event was also attended by the Principal Mr. Tommy Gunning & other staff members. Many parents & local residents were invited to join in the opening celebrations.

Works have been completed on the upgrading of the Shop in Cork Institute of Technology.

The size of this shop was increased significantly with attention to detail with regards to the exit & entry of individuals to & from the shop during busy periods of the College day & evening.

The company underwent the annual audit for the Safe-T-Cert in August 2010 and maintained a "B" grade. MMD was original award the Safe-T Cert 2007.

On April 6th 2009 

MMD Construction Cork Ltd. were presented with the ISO:9001-2008 International Quality Standard and the OHSAS 18001 International Safety Standard.

The presentation of the certificates was made by Mr. Willie Kingston of ISO-QSL Ltd. to Mr Cormac Smith Secretary of MMD Construction Cork Ltd. Also present at the ceremony was Mr. Alan Morris Executive Southern Region of the Construction Industry Federation.
