Fota Wildlife Sanctuary, Co.Cork
Client: Fota Wildlife Park
This project consisted of the constructuion of the Asian Sanctuary, an Animal Care Centre, the development of a road network and extensive car park facility and 3 bridges . The sanctuary spans 27 acres and is home to all sorts of exotic animals. Features of the sanctuary include the follwoing
A number of new lakes,
A dedicated entrance
And a 50 metre raised runway.
The largest bridge is an 88 metre pedestrian bridge located in the Fota Wildlife Asia Experience. The bridge consists of 14 columns and bases with 13 solid concrete pre finished slabs spannig a distance of 6m each.
The works also included the provision of services such as:
Galvanised rails were installed on the side walls on the walk way
There were two different sized pads installed to accomodate varying types of ground
The bridge was approx 2m above water level of the lake and was approximately 4m above the top of the pads. A selection of pads were installed below sea level (-1.2m) therefore continous pumping was required
